It was a headline worthy of the Babylon Bee, so ridiculous it could only be satire. “Protesters Mourn Nasrallah’s Death Around the World,” trumpeted the New York Times. The article itself described Hezbollah terror boss Hassan Nasrallah as a “gifted orator” who fought for equality among all religions.

The short NYT piece praised the Hezbollah leader, describing him as a “much-loved leader” among Shiite Muslims partly because he offered “social services” in Lebanon. It also mentioned that Nasrallah believed there should be one Palestine where Muslims, Jews, and Christians are treated equally.

The glowing article is at odds with a NYT piece published in May. In that piece, the peace-loving Nasrallah noted, “If Jews all gather in Israel, it will save us the trouble of going after them worldwide.”

But the Kool-Aid was sweet, and liberal news outlets can’t help drinking it.

Nasrallah was born in 1960 into a poor Shia Muslim family and grew up in the poverty-stricken city of Sharshabouk in Beirut. As a child, he moved to southern Lebanon to study theology and became a follower of the Islamic faith.

In 1982, Nasrallah joined Hezbollah shortly after the terrorist organization was formed as a “political and military group.” He climbed the ranks and led Hezbollah in several conflicts against Israel. Under his strict leadership, Hezbollah became a powerful military force and was labeled an Islamic terrorist organization by many countries, including Britain and America.

He holds the title of Sayyed, which shows his lineage back to the Prophet Muhammad. Many people in the Middle East view him as an important Islamist leader.

Nasrallah made Israel the main target of Hezbollah and would settle for nothing less than its destruction. Nasrallah led the Iran-backed Hezbollah during the last war with Israel in 2006. He rebuilt the group’s military, making it the most heavily armed terrorist group in the world. Just days before his death, he promised to continue fighting Israel with his stockpile of weapons, including 150,000 missiles and drones.

The group has been stocking up on weapons in preparation for conflict. Iran has helped Hezbollah strengthen its arsenal by providing light weapons, anti-tank missiles, and long-range unguided missiles.

A former Hezbollah officer described the situation in the south as “boiling,” claiming that they have “everything the Iranians have..” Reports indicated that Hezbollah has been expanding its tunnel network in southern Lebanon to help move fighters around the country.

Last week, the “gifted orator” hinted at these preparations by calling the upcoming days a “historic opportunity” for his fighters to battle Israel. He chillingly stated, “We’re waiting for their tanks. When they come, they’re welcome.”

Nasrallah partnered with other Shia-based groups like the Houthis and Hamas to help eliminate Israel. Nasrallah flew under the radar as much as possible, hiding and avoiding public appearances because he feared being assassinated by Israelis.

It was a valid fear. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is thought to have personally approved the September 27 attack after finding Nasrallah’s secret hideout. His spies reportedly discovered that the General-Secretary was planning to meet with his remaining leaders at the underground headquarters.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi responded by accusing Israel of using US “bunker buster” bombs in the attack on Beirut. The attack is believed to have involved 4,000-pound laser and GPS-guided GBU-28 bombs, as well as 2,000-pound Blu-109 bunker-buster bombs, which can dig as deep as 200 feet underground before exploding.

After confirming Nasrallah’s death on Saturday, Hezbollah promised to continue fighting against Israel. They stated that the leadership of Hezbollah would keep up its efforts to “confront the enemy,” support Gaza and Palestine, and defend Lebanon and its “strong and honorable people.”

In a statement about Nasrallah’s death, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that they settled the score with the person responsible for the deaths of many Israelis. He pointed out that Nasrallah was accountable for the deaths of many other people worldwide, including hundreds of Americans and dozens of French people.

The New York Times’ portrayal of Nasrallah as anything other than a terrorist leader who is responsible for the deaths of thousands is mind-blowing, disturbing, and downright disgusting. It’s also proof that liberals are reveling in their deep-rooted anti-Semitism, cheered on by the mainstream media.
