The Justice Department under President Donald Trump announced Wednesday that it has issued over 20 subpoenas to doctors and clinics involved in providing sex change procedures to minors, escalating its promise to end the medical mutilation of children. The agency said it is investigating possible healthcare fraud, false statements, and other violations connected to these controversial practices.

“Medical professionals and organizations that mutilated children in the service of a warped ideology will be held accountable by this Department of Justice,” Attorney General Pamela Bondi said in a strong statement. The DOJ did not disclose the names of the doctors or clinics that have been subpoenaed but signaled that its probe is wide-ranging and aggressive.

This action follows Bondi’s April memo instructing all U.S. attorneys to investigate suspected cases of female genital mutilation (FGM) under the banner of “so-called ‘gender-affirming care’” and to prosecute all offenses to the fullest extent of the law. She also directed the DOJ’s Consumer Protection Branch to investigate manufacturers and distributors for misbranding puberty blockers, sex hormones, and other drugs used in facilitating child sex changes, accusing them of making false claims about safety and efficacy.

On his first days back in office, Trump signed an executive order barring federal support for child sex change procedures, promising to rigorously enforce laws that prohibit or limit such practices. “Across the country today, medical professionals are maiming and sterilizing a growing number of impressionable children under the radical and false claim that adults can change a child’s sex through a series of irreversible medical interventions,” the order declared. “This dangerous trend will be a stain on our Nation’s history, and it must end.”

The move comes just weeks after the U.S. Supreme Court upheld Tennessee’s ban on specific transgender medical treatments for adolescents in a 6-3 ruling, delivering a significant win for those seeking to protect children from irreversible medical harm. Meanwhile, whistleblowers within the pediatric gender industry have begun to speak out, calling the procedures deeply unethical and warning of lifelong consequences for young people rushed into hormone therapies and surgeries.

Critics of “gender-affirming care” argue that children, who are not legally permitted to buy cigarettes or alcohol, should not be subjected to irreversible medical procedures under the influence of ideological agendas. Trump and his administration are betting that a strong stance on protecting children will resonate with parents across the country, many of whom have felt ignored by the medical and educational establishments pushing gender ideology.

This DOJ action marks one of the most significant steps yet in Trump’s broader campaign promise to protect children from radical gender ideology and those profiting from it. Clinics, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies providing puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and surgeries to minors are now on notice: the federal government is watching, and accountability is coming.

Stay tuned as subpoenas turn into charges and the Trump administration follows through on its commitment to defend America’s children from what it calls the “irreversible mutilation” of gender ideology under the false claim of compassion.
