Another Impeachment Stunt? You’ll Be Rolling Your Eyes

President Trump just added another feather to his cap—or maybe another target to his back. On Monday, Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-MI) introduced yet another batch of articles of impeachment against Trump, making the case that the president must be removed from office… for deporting an alleged gang member.

Yes, seriously.

Thanedar’s big pitch? He claims Trump violated the Constitution by defying a court order to return Kilmar Abrego Garcia—a man tied to MS-13 and accused of domestic violence and human smuggling. The congressman insists that Garcia’s deportation represents a breakdown of democracy and that Trump must go.

The problem? Almost no one is buying it.

In fact, Thanedar’s video announcement was so bizarre and amateurish that it quickly drew comparisons to a parody skit from Saturday Night Live. With its dramatic delivery, low-budget graphics, and exaggerated hand-wringing, viewers weren’t sure if it was a serious announcement or a joke gone wrong.

“This is Congressman Donald Trump has already done real damage to our democracy,” Thanedar proclaimed. “But defying a unanimous 9-0 Supreme Court ruling? That has to be the final straw.”

He then claimed that his seven articles of impeachment are based on Trump “ignoring the Constitution” and creating a “deliberate pattern” of danger to democracy. But what stands out more than the content is the fact that most Americans had never even heard of Thanedar before this press release—and many are still asking how someone this obscure ended up in Congress.

The internet wasn’t kind. Critics mocked the congressman for not even getting Garcia’s name right in the video, and questioned how Democrats thought it was a winning strategy to make a deported MS-13 suspect the face of their “resistance.”

But of course, this isn’t about actually removing Trump. The impeachment stunt has no path forward in the Republican-controlled House. Speaker Mike Johnson has made clear that these antics are going nowhere. No hearings, no votes—just a lot of noise.

That’s what makes this whole ordeal so telling. At a time when border security is at record highs, the economy is rebounding, and Trump is winning public support on issue after issue, Democrats are still obsessed with trying to take him down through the courts—or in this case, through performance art.

The absurdity of Thanedar’s move only reinforces how little the left has to offer. Instead of working on serious legislation or addressing real issues like crime or inflation, they’re filing symbolic impeachment resolutions to appease their fringe base.

And the timing couldn’t be more ironic. Trump just celebrated his first 100 days back in office, with historic gains in border enforcement, job creation, and federal spending cuts through his DOGE initiative. Meanwhile, Democrats are setting themselves on fire to protect a deported gang member and claim it’s all about democracy.

You couldn’t write a better political satire if you tried.

If this is the best they’ve got, Trump has nothing to worry about. The American people are watching—and laughing.
