Border Czar Kamala Harris’s policies are destroying towns all across America. One of those towns is South Portland, Maine, which had a population of just over 26,000 Americans in the last census. The city is giving away many freebies to coddle the illegal aliens, and the only way to pay for that is by raising property taxes. This is crushing elderly residents on fixed incomes, even if their homes are paid for in the little town. The town’s mayor has offered one of the evilest plans we’ve heard during Border Czar Kamala’s open border crisis. He says the elderly residents of his town should reverse mortgage their homes.

Have you seen the Greater Portland area in Maine recently? Ten percent of the population there is now illegal aliens. No one even knows for sure how many illegals are in South Portland. It’s somewhere in the neighborhood of 7,000, give or take a few. So, roughly 20% of South Portland’s population is made up of illegal aliens who arrived in the last two years.

Like every other city in America, the disgusting and weak leaders of South Portland have rolled out the red carpet for the invaders. Housing allowances, food stamps, “free” cell phones that they can watch porn on, clothes, a roof over their heads, dry cleaning—nothing is too good for the foreign invaders who just broke our laws and somehow traveled to the one state in the continental US that is furthest away from the border.

All those freebies that the illegals are receiving have to be paid for, though. In South Portland, the only way to come up with that extra money has been by raising property taxes. For some residents, their property tax bill has gone up by as much as 60% in South Portland. Imagine being a senior citizen on a fixed income. You’ve worked hard your whole life and paid for your home, but now your property taxes have jumped by 60% in less than two years.

When South Portland residents went to a city council meeting to complain about this, here’s how Mayor Misha Pride responded to them:

What a jerk!

When senior citizens reverse mortgage their homes, that almost guarantees that they won’t be able to pass that asset on to their heirs when they die. The homes that they worked hard for and paid for will be lost when they die—all so they could throw more money at the government.

Leaders like this hate the people who have elected them. We shouldn’t even single out Misha Pride like this, because he is exactly like many of the other disgusting mayors that we have in this country. Instead of having the courage to solve the problem on behalf of the constituents they’re supposed to be serving, every mayor’s response is the same: We need more taxpayer dollars to wipe the butts of these able-bodied 25-year-old foreigners who just showed up and can’t get a job in our advanced economy.

If a mayor cared about his or her own citizens, they’d sign a very simple executive order that would solve the problem:

“In order to obtain a marriage license, access banking services, drive a car, register property, or enroll a child in a public school in [insert city name here], you must show proof of US citizenship.”

Done.

The illegals would start self-deporting immediately. They’d all say, “Wow, this place sucks and they don’t want me here. How far is it to the Canadian border?”

If any mayor would actually do that for their constituents, they would win reelection in a landslide.
